The new mythical Pokemon that was discovered awhile ago has return with a Shiny form. Meltan is a mythical steel type Pokemon that was originally found in the Alola region (Generation 7). It is vulnerable to Fighting, Fire and Ground type moves. Meltan can also evolves into Melmetal by spending 400 candies in the Pokemon GO app.
Meltan was originally introduced in conjunction with the release of Nintendo Switch's Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee video game in November 2018. It was then added into a special research in the Pokemon GO app. Trainers can only obtain Meltan by opening a Mystery Box through transfer of Pokemon between Pokemon GO and Pokemon Let's Go.
Though, we are are excited to announced the return of Shiny Meltan for a limited amount of time. Meltan only appears for 30 minutes when a Mystery Box is opened in Pokemon GO app. If you are lucky, you may encounter Shiny Meltan when you open the Mystery Box from Wednesday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m. PDT (Thursday, April 25 at 4:00 a.m. GTM+8) until Sunday, May 5 at 1:00 p.m. PDT (Monday, May 6 at 4:00 a.m. GMT+8).
Until now, Trainers have to wait for seven days after opening the Mystery Box before opening it again. But starting this Thursday (GMT+8), you'll be able to open the Mystery Box once every three days, making it easier to get Meltan.
