After years of speculation, a live-action Pokemon movie is finally coming to theaters this week. Starring Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), the Pokemon Detective Pikachu is coming to theaters worldwide on May 10 this year... Or rather be THIS WEEK!
Pokemon Detective Pikachu is a story of an ace detective Harry Goodman who goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son, Tim, to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokemon partner, a wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth Detective Pikachu, voiced by Ryan Reynolds. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to work together, as Tim is the only human who can talk with Pikachu, they join forces to unravel the tangled mystery.
In conjunction with the release of Pokemon Detective Pikachu movie, Niantic had announced that a Detective Pikachu theme event is coming to the Pokemon GO app starting May 7 (today) until May 17, 2019.
During the 10 days event, Trainers will be able to encounter selected Pokemon featured in the movie more frequently. But not just that, selected Pokemon featured in the movie will also be making appearance in raids. Well, we are not sure if it included a Tier-5 raid. We know that MewTwo will be in the Pokemon Detective Pikachu as shown in the official trailer, but what are the chances of encountering MewTwo in Tier-5 raids?
I just say, it would be hyped if MewTwo is coming back for a Tier-5 special raid during the event. Who wouldn't want to catch MewTwo, right?
Besides that, special themed Field Research will also be available for a limited time during this event, whilst Trainers can also gain double XP for catching Pokemon throughout the event. If you were lucky, you could be photobombed by a Pikachu in a detective hat, and with a chance to catch one of your very own! Shiny Aipom and Ambipom are also available during the event, so make sure to search for the Shiny.
