SpaceX And NASA Are Set For Dragon Launch On Friday

With Blue Origin successfully launched its 11th flight of the New Shepard suborbital flight yesterday, all eyes are on NASA and SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket which is scheduled for launch today.

Dragon will deliver 5,500 tons of experiments and supplies to the International Space Station on its 17th Commercial Resupply Services today at 3:11 a.m. EDT (3:11 p.m. GMT+8).

"Forecaster with the @45thSpaceWing predict a 40% chance of favorable weather for tomorrow's 3:11 a.m. EDT launch of @SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida," NASA announced in Twitter.

The mission control team in Houston has successfully completed an operation to remove a failed Main Bus Switching Unit-3 and replace it with a spare. The MBSU had failed on April 29 and reduced the station's power supply by about 25%. There were no immediate concerns for the crew or the station.

Since the successful replacement, the MBSU was powered up and checked out successfully with all station systems back to nominal power configuration, including redundant power to the Canadarm2 robotic arm, which will be used for Dragon's capture and berthing.

You can check out the live webcast of the launch embedded above.
