May’s Windows 10 Update Requires Twice As Much Disk Space Than Previous Version

While you are waiting for the next big update on Windows 10 to arrive in May, you might want to start cleaning up your disk space as the update was reported to take twice as much storage space on your PC than the previous version.

According to Microsoft advisory, the new version of Windows 10 which is arriving in May will require at least 32 GB or more of storage space on your PC to be installed. This is twice as much of the previous version of Windows 10 update which only takes up to 16 GB of storage space. The new larger storage requirement applies to both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.

This might be convenient to most modern PCs since they have plenty of storage space to handle 32 GB of Windows files. But it could be a problem for users with older version of PCs, especially those with smaller drives.

Windows specialist Paul Thurrott believes that even larger sick space requirements could loom in Windows’ future update. “Given the way storage is trending, I’m surprise it took so long to get to 32 GB,” he said on his website. We are even have the potential of seeing a 64 GB minimum happening in the near future.

When the Windows update arrived next month, if you are running low on disk space, you might want to consider upgrading to a bigger storage. Unfortunately, you can’t skip the update to the new version of Windows 10 as the next updates include essential security tweaks without which your PC is vulnerable to cyber-attacks.
